Sara Mansur

Sarah Mansur was born in Mexico in 1975. She studied at the prestigious National School of Sculptural Art, from 1994 to 1997, and in 1999 graduated from the La Noria School of the Arts in Mexico City. From there she traveled extensively visiting the major museums and galleries on both American continents and Europe studying the techniques of the masters.

Mansur's art explores different perspectives, the meeting of the physical and spiritual states of our existence and how we perceive and interpret the human body and human experience such as the contemplation and longing. Her work is based on the human figure embracing movement, form and athleticism. She strives to show the inherent beauty of life, her sculpture reflecting her deep appreciation and respect towards the natural world, capturing 'the life' of her subject matter. Sarah's unique style demonstrates a decided leaning toward both the contemporary and abstract.

She works primarily bronze, (but also marble and resin) believing her sculpture will stand the test of time. It is through these different mediums that Mansur creates a spontaneity and energy that enables each piece each sculpture to "possess it's own intrinsiticity..." She insists that the feelings and emotion that exist behind and motivate her work have as much significance for her than the subject of the sculpture.
